THE ROLE
The Advanced Child Protection Practitioner receives and assesses reports of alleged abuse and neglect of children and young people. They undertake investigations and develop plans to bring about the changes necessary to ensure the safety, stability and development of children and young people and to promote the achievement of case plan objectives within specified timeframes. This may include taking matters to court. The roles oversee cases that are contracted to agencies and monitors and has oversight of agency performance.
This role oversees all cases that are contracted to the Anglicare Victoria Residential Care - In Western Melbourne.
ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE
- Understands child development - Identifies normal developmental stages within a child's life, and understands attachment and trauma theories as they relate to child protection practice.
- Identifies risks to children - identifies factors that place a child at risk of abuse or neglect and articulates this risk verbally and in writing to a range of stakeholders including parent, children and other professionals.
- Understands the legislative and statutory framework - understands and embeds the Child Youth and Families Act (2005) in practice, including the core responsibilities and principles of the Act.
