**In this role you will**:
Adopt contemporary human resource management practices to ensure development of a highly skilled, flexible and engaged teamIdentifies and develops talent to create an engaged and committed workforceDevelops a positive workforce culture aligned to QCS values and objectivesAssist the management team within the centre to plan for current and future workforce needs for the Unit to ensure execution of QCS strategiesContribute to the success of the QCS Workforce StrategyPromote the current performance management system and actively participate in performance management activitiesCoach and mentor staff through the provision of constructive feedback and managing under-performanceContribute to the development and implementation of a skilled and responsive workforceEnsure rostering practices are effective and compliant with relevant Awards and policiesImplement systems to ensure compliance with Agency procedures and processesEnsure workloads and work practices of staff contribute to effectiveness of the centreMaintain knowledge of contemporary management practicesCo-ordinate the financial activities for the centre and provide advice on such mattersAssist the General Manager develop the budget and business plan for the centreAssist the General Manager to devise and implement strategies to respond to budget trends and monitor financial statementsManage the efficient use of industries facilities including the preparation of capital and minor works submissions and provide advice on sameManage industries business records and provide required data to satisfy internal and external audit requirementsManage external suppliers to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery of products and services of industries programsEnsure industry production meets with client's needs in the areas of quality, turnaround times and specificationDevelop, manage and maintain a network of clients to ensure ongoing business contracts for the centre's industriesAssess quotations, and develop business plans and joint venture proposals to ensure their suitability for inmate labour and that profitability and revenue generation is maximisedLiaise with the Assistant General Manager, on prison industries contributing to vocational training and education components of centre-based activitiesLiaise with other Managers, Industries Supervisors, Trade Instructors and (Sentence Management) to ensure continuity of prisoner employment to centre based industries and projectsMonitor and coordinate the industries function in the centre to ensure the effective use of resourcesManage the allocation of work within a risk management frameworkEnsure allocation of industry activity is consistent with case management plans and Integrated Offender Management System (IOMS) requirementsEnsure officers comply with legislation and procedures for the management of offendersMaintain knowledge of legislation, policy and procedures in relation to offender managementEnsure duty of care obligations for staff, offenders and the public are metManage responses to emergency situations in accordance with Agency procedures ensuring the paramount safety of the community and staffEnsure the timely provision of advice to stakeholdersBuild relationships with key internal stakeholdersNegotiate positive outcomesEnsure the appropriate exchange of information to and from the UnitMaintain strong internal and external networksIdentify and action initiatives to enable outcomes for QCSThis work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Australia License.
