**The Role**
As the Psychology Manager, you are accountable to enable the range of service delivery of the mental health teams in accordance with Defence policy including the Defence Health Manual within all Defence Bases in the Joint Health Unit - Northern NSW (JHU-NNSW) region.

This includes mental health service delivery by the embedded mental health teams as well as clinical oversight for services provided by external providers including both the ADF's Health Services Contract and Department of Veterans' Affairs' Open Arms.

You will work closely with the JHU-NNSW Command team to ensure all health practitioners are supported to deliver appropriate clinical intervention to members of the ADF.

You will provide technical guidance and advice to assist the day-to-day operations of the mental health teams for JHU-NNSW including peer consultation for complex cases, coordinate and provide clinical support to multi-disciplinary case coordination, case review and unit welfare boards.

You will be required to exercise the associated people and financial responsibilities to achieve work unit outcomes.

You will be supported by a national peer group from the other seven Joint Health Units and the technical authority within Garrison Health Headquarters.

**About our Team**
The Joint Health Unit - Northern New South Wales (JHU-NNSW) mental health teams consist of high performing health professionals with a strong desire to support and enable the ADF's primary mission.

While the teams are managed by Health Centre Managers, you will be expected to work closely with those key stakeholders to provide technical and clinical guidance across a range of mental health considerations to enable effective delivery of mental health services.

You will be expected to work closely with the Senior Mental Health Advisor, the Senior Military Psychology Officer, and the Staff Officer Grade 1 Mental Health Clinical Advisory Group in direct support of the delivery of mental health services in your region.

You will report directly to the Commanding Officer and be expected to provide your SME advice on a range of complex clinical issues as well as ensuring the mental health teams have the required skills and knowledge to delivery mental health services.

You will have a small team of health professionals and administrators to enable the coordination and appropriateness of Joint Health Command mental health services external network of mental health providers.

You will be an experienced mental health professional who can demonstrate capacity to acquire an in-depth knowledge of and compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence's mission and policy requirements, and translate that knowledge to support the delivery of mental health services. This includes supporting other health professionals (such as Medical Officers, Registered Nurses, Physiotherapists and Rehabilitation Coordinators) acquire skills and knowledge to enable their practice for the delivery of required mental health support.

You will embrace responsibility for the implementation, compliance and adherence to Defence policy to enable operationally focused, Command responsive, member centred, recovery oriented, mental health service delivery that is safe, research informed and to a high standard. You will be prepared to provide tactical level commentary to proposed technical and policy updates as well as support the up-skilling and maintenance of clinical skills to the Joint Health Unit - Northern New South Wales health workforce.

You will engage in the establishment and maintenance of effective key stakeholder relationships to dependency Command as well as Single Service and Joint Health Command colleagues to enable the strategic narrative determined by the Defence Health Strategy and One Defence approach to the delivery of mental health services to the ADF.
