**Graduate Officer - Geographical Information System**

**Role Overview**

As a Graduate Officer you will assist in the acquisition, organisation and presentation of geographical information, and to provide Geographical Information System (GIS) related services, advice, and support to the council and external customers.

**What we are looking for**:

- Contribute to the creation and maintenance of the GIS data to agreed standards, and contribute to the maintenance of the GIS system.
- Produce maps and provide other GIS services to council staff and external customers.
- Provide GIS related support and training to council staff.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement and documentation of the procedures, work instructions and metadata of the GIS section, the Design Services Branch and Council more broadly.

**Essential Knowledge & Skills**:

- Tertiary qualifications in Geographic Information Systems, Surveying, Science, or Computing, or studying towards that goal. Alternatively, at least three years demonstrated experience in GIS.
- Demonstrated knowledge of, and skills in, the operation of current GIS software, in the creation, integration and analysis of a wide range of spatial data.
- Demonstrated experience in providing customer services and technical support to internal staff and the general public.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to convey technical matters through effective written and verbal communication as well as directing others.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, yet successfully work as part of an integrated team to manage GIS projects to achieve successful outcomes.

**Essential Requirements**:

- Queensland ‘C’ Class driver’s licence that is current and maintained.
