**About the role**

As a Data & AI Consultant, you leverage your expertise in Power BI to analyse, visualize, and transform business data into actionable insights. You collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements, design data models, and create dynamic reports and dashboards that support decision-making and improve operational efficiency. Your role combines a deep understanding of data analysis, database management, and advanced Power BI development to deliver solutions that address both strategic and tactical business needs.

**Responsibilities and Accountabilities**

**1. Data Analysis and Reporting**:

- Data Collection & Analysis: Gather and analyse data from various sources (SQL databases, cloud services, APIs, etc.) to identify trends, insights, and business opportunities.
- Report & Dashboard Development: Design and develop interactive, user-friendly Power BI reports and dashboards that meet business requirements and provide meaningful insights.
- Ad-Hoc Reporting: Provide ad-hoc reporting support to business units, answering data related queries, and delivering insights based on specific needs.

**2. Power BI Development & Maintenance**:

- Power BI Data Models: Create and maintain data models in Power BI, ensuring they are optimized for performance and scalability.
- Data Transformation: Utilize Power Query to clean, transform, and load data from various sources into Power BI, ensuring data accuracy and consistency.
- DAX Formulas: Develop complex DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) measures, calculated columns, and KPIs to derive business insights and improve report functionality.
- Dashboard Design: Design visually appealing and intuitive Power BI dashboards that align with business goals and allow users to easily interpret the data.

**3. Data Integration and ETL**:

- ETL Processes: Develop and manage ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to integrate data from multiple systems and sources into Power BI.
- SQL Query Writing: Write and optimize SQL queries to extract and transform data from relational databases or data warehouses to support Power BI reports and dashboards.
- Database Integration: Integrate data from different sources (SQL databases, Excel, APIs, web services) into a unified Power BI model.

**4. Performance Optimization**:

- Report Performance Tuning: Ensure that Power BI reports and dashboards are optimized for performance by implementing best practices for data modelling, query design, and DAX functions.

**5. Collaboration & Stakeholder Communication**:

- Requirement Gathering: Work closely with business stakeholders to understand their reporting needs, gather requirements, and provide actionable insights.
- Business Process Understanding: Gain an in-depth understanding of the business processes and workflows to ensure reports and dashboards meet operational needs and goals.
- Training & Support: Provide training and support to end-users, ensuring they can navigate Power BI reports and dashboards effectively.

**6. Documentation & Maintenance**:

- Documentation: Document Power BI report specifications, data models, DAX formulas, and other technical aspects to ensure proper knowledge transfer and support.
- Ongoing Maintenance: Ensure that reports and dashboards are up to date, refreshing data as needed, and implementing enhancements based on user feedback.

**7. Key Skills**:

- Communicating with business and technical stakeholders at all levels
- Agile ceremony participation includes standups, retros, and sprint planning.
- Maintaining and updating work backlogs, users storis and tasks.
- Helping peers and junior members of the team.
- Raising and reviewing issues and risks with the team and technical and business project managers.
- Active participation in data visualisation and other guilds, team and all hands meetings.
- Constant upskilling through Microsoft certifications and online courses.

**Requirements and Experience**:**

**Educational Qualifications**:

- Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications, such as Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate, will be highly regarded.

**Technical Skills**:

- Power BI: At least 35 years of hands-on experience with Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, and Power BI Report Server.
- DAX (Data Analysis Expressions): Proficiency in writing DAX queries for data analysis and building metrics.
- Power Query (M Language): Expertise in using Power Query to transform and clean data.
