**The Area**

The Postdoctoral Fellow will work as part of the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence in Future Low-Energy Electronics Technologies (FLEET), at its node in the Research School of Physics (RSPhys), Australian National University. ARC FLEET aims to reduce the energy used by electronics by developing novel devices based on topological materials, exciton/exciton-polariton condensates, and non-equilibrium topological and superfluid phenomena. The FLEET research program spans various platforms ranging from ultra-cold atoms to atomically thin materials. The collaborative network of FLEET involves 7 Australian Universities, and multiple international partners.

**The Position**

The Postdoctoral Fellow will be based in the Polariton BEC Group in the Department of Quantum Science and Technology within the Research School of Physics. The Polariton BEC Group undertakes experimental and theoretical research on strong light-matter coupling and Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) of exciton-polaritons in semiconductor microcavities. The group’s projects include low-dimensional physics of exciton-polaritons, non-Hermitian and topological effects, non-equlibrium physics, and fundamental investigations aiming to enable future polaritonic devices. The group was established in 2013, and strongly contributes to the research program of the ARC Centre of Excellence in Future Low-Energy Electronics Technologies (FLEET).

**The Person**

To excel in this role you will have:

- A PhD degree (or awarding of PhD within 6 months of appointment commencement) in Physics or related area
- Ability to deliver high-quality research output in the field of experimental exciton-polariton physics or related area
- Demonstrated experience in physics of light-matter coupling in atomically thin semiconductors and thin films
- Demonstrated ability to design and fabrication of optical microcavities with embedded semiconductor materials
