**About the role**:
This role will enable the Disaster Management function to translate large-scale datasets into actionable insights using advanced artificial intelligence, including generative AI models.
The role will focus on extracting value from the SCC platform and other internal data assets to uplift operational decision-making, reporting, and predictive capabilities across the function.
**More specifically, you will**:
**Effective Data Insight & Decision Enablement**
- Develop generative AI models to produce automated insights, reporting and forecasting that can inform Disaster Management strategies.
- Design and implement dashboards, alerts and visualisation tools that translate complex data into meaningful outputs for internal stakeholders.
**Strategic Application of AI**
- Identify opportunities for AI to enhance workflows, including risk identification, resource allocation, customer support trends, and scenario modelling.
- Support strategic decision-making by developing AI-enabled solutions that anticipate needs and prescribe actions aligned with event severity and response metrics.
- Partner with technical SMEs and data governance teams to ensure AI initiatives are robust, secure, and aligned to enterprise standards.
**Proactive Risk & Data Governance**
- Ensure AI and data use aligns with privacy, ethical, and compliance standards.
- Collaborate with data stewards and cyber representatives to uphold integrity and security of data sources.
- Document AI model rationale, logic and assumptions to support explainability and transparency
**Contribution to Team and Capability Uplift**
- Coach and uplift team awareness of how to engage with AI insights in operations.
- Support training on new tools or outputs generated through the AI platform.
- Participate in cross-functional working groups, pilots, and proof-of-concept trials as AI capability scales across the business.
**About You**:
- Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering or a related field (desirable)
- Postgraduate qualifications or certifications in AI, ML or Data Engineering (desirable)
- 3-5+ years of experience in a data science, AI, or machine learning role
- Experience with natural disaster or insurance datasets (highly regarded)

- Strong analytical mindset and problem-solving ability
- Proven experience translating technical insights into business language and value
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills
- Resilient, innovative and delivery-oriented
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams.
- General understanding of SharePoint.
- Proficient in Python, R or equivalent for model development
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP) and model deployment
- Experience working with large-scale structured and unstructured data
- Familiarity with generative AI techniques and tools (e.g. transformers, LLM APIs)
- Experience with visualisation tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.)
