**About the department**

The Discovery and Innovation Unit is responsible for establishing and monitoring the operational excellence and compliance of research activities at the Austin Health precinct and its collaborators. The Unit administers processes, systems, guidance and support for research professionals conducting research. The Unit is a crucial conduit between risk owners and functions on a risk-based monitoring approach by identifying and mitigating risks, trends and opportunities for improvement.

**About the role**

The Ethics & Governance Advisor reports to the Ethics, Integrity & Governance Operations Team Leader and is critical to operational function of the Discovery & Innovation Unit (D&I).

The operational functions that support:

- First level advice for key research stakeholders and Ethics & Governance Committees on all matters pertaining to ethics, governance, operations, integrity and biosafety. This includes but is not limited to providing advice around project design, conducting research, and training to embed new practices via continuous improvement methodologies.
- Under the direction of Associate Director of Operations, lead continuous improvement stakeholder meetings and implementation using Agile methodology.
- Oversee the creation of agendas, minutes, advice, and pre-review of items sent to the Ethics & Governance Committees for review.

As the Ethics & Governance Advisor, you will be someone who has excellent communication skills, with a strong commitment to excellence in patient care. You’ll bring energy and drive to your work, and have a keen interest in developing your skillset.

To be successful in this role, you'll bring with you:

- Experience in the review and interpretation of research projects and research agreements.
- Experience in preparing and managing research projects, including design, tracking and post-approval requirements (such as safety, annual and final reports).
- Experience in writing clear, concise procedures and guidelines.
- Demonstrated skills and experience, including timely, efficient and effective minute-taking and record
- keeping.
- Demonstrated ability and performance in data collection, analysis, interpretation and report writing.
- Track record in customer service including excellent written and verbal communication skills and proven time management skills.
- Proven ability to work in a team where knowledge and experience is shared across areas of expertise.
