**The Role**:
As a Support Worker at YAY TODAY, you will play a key role in providing personalized support to NDIS participants, ensuring they receive the care, understanding, and guidance they need to live independently. If you are fluent in AUSLAN and passionate about delivering outstanding care to people who are Deaf or hard of hearing, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need it most.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Provide person-centered support**: Assist NDIS participants with daily living tasks, personal care, and community participation while promoting independence and choice.
- **Use AUSLAN for effective communication**: Support Deaf and hard of hearing clients by using AUSLAN to communicate clearly and respectfully, ensuring their needs are fully understood.
- **Collaborate with clients and teams**: Work closely with participants, their families, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement tailored support plans.
- **Advocate for participants**: Help clients access services, participate in social activities, and achieve their goals in a safe, respectful environment.
- **Maintain records and comply with standards**: Keep accurate and up-to-date documentation of support provided, ensuring all NDIS requirements are met.
- **Foster positive relationships**: Build trust and rapport with clients, always advocating for their voice to be heard and their preferences respected.
**Skills & Qualifications**:
- **Proficiency in AUSLAN** (minimum Level 2 or equivalent) is essential.
- Experience working in the NDIS sector or with individuals with disabilities is highly desirable.
- Compassionate, patient, and committed to making a positive difference in people’s lives.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to adapt to the needs of clients.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.
- A current driver’s license and reliable access to a vehicle.
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
- National Police Check and Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain).
