Snapology Stem Education Instructor

**Position Summary**:
The primary focus of this position will be to teach Snapology programs. Instructors are asked to promote creativity, teamwork and problem solving skills while educating students on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) concepts. Programs are conducted for children ages 4-14, although not all instructors are required to teach all age groups. This role requires internal collaboration and communication with Snapology leadership as well as representing the Snapology organization to parents & children with a high degree of professionalism.
**Role & Responsibilities**:
- Lead groups of up to 30 students through curriculum-guided activities;
- Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment;
- Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures; classroom
- Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of Snapology;
- Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies;
- Adequately prepare for each program by reading curriculum, watching training videos and/or participating in face-to-face training sessions;
- Handle inquiries from parents regarding Snapology programs;
- Encourage students & parents to enroll students in future Snapology programs;
- Participate in periodic Snapology training & staff meetings as required
- Determining times for training and letting management know when they will be coming in to prepare for new classes
- Signing out all supplies
- Returning all supplies in an organized manner and checking off that they have returned everything and have completed the return tasks
- Organizing and refilling Class Pack and Teacher Pack with notes about resources that need to be purchased in order to refill. These materials will go onto the “returned” shelves.
- Completing a daily log about experiences with the school, the students, the curriculum
- that is to be returned to management.
**Qualifications**:
- Working with Children check must be current
- 2 or more years of experience working with children in a classroom or workshop environment
- Education degree and minimum of 2 years teaching experience required, teachers pursuing a degree in education with extensive teaching experience will also be considered for this position
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis
**Programs Available to Teach**:
- Evening Classes: 1-3 hours in length and occur between 4:00 - 9:00pm Monday-Friday
- Weekend Workshops: 2-4 hours in length and occur on Saturday or Sunday
- School Holiday Camps: 1.5-7 hours in length (typically 3 hours per day) and occur between 9am - 5pm Monday-Friday
- Birthday Parties: 2 hours in length and occur on Saturday or Sunday
- Special Events: 1-8 hours in length and occur anytime
- Before or After-school and/or evening Classes (During school term): 1-2 hours in length and occur between 2:30 - 5:00pm Monday-Friday or 7:30 to 8:30am

For all school holiday workshops there is set up and pack time which is factored into the above rates. Most programs will require you to be there 15 to 45 mins prior for venue set up and classroom preparation.
**Job Type**: Contract
Contract length: 6 months
Pay: $24.10 - $40.00 per hour
Expected hours: 6 - 20 per week
