The Food Services Department is responsible for providing all patient meals. Our aim is to ensure that our meals are safe, appropriate for our patient’s needs and served with care.
An opportunity exists within our Food Services Department to join our team of casual Menu Monitors. This position will involve a range of tasks including (but not limited to):
- Patient menu collection
- Menu data entry and ordering
- Food safety checks
- Supervising patient meal service
- Maintaining ward food supplies.
The casual Menu Monitor role may involve working a variety of shifts over 7 days, including both early (0630-1500) and late (1030-1900) shifts. A minimum of one to two shifts per week will be required, with frequent additional shifts to cover staff leave.

**About you**
To be successful within this role, you will need to have:
- Food service experience in health or hospitality
- Flexibility in working hours
- Ability to respond to shift requests at short notice
Ability to work without supervision as well as part of a team
- Ability to understand the needs of patients from diverse social, religious and cultural background
- High level of written and verbal communication skills across multiple levels of an organization
- Ability to use initiative and develop strategies to cope with challenging situations eg changes in patient meal requirements, shortfall in meals arriving from Austin Health etc.
**Desirable Requirements**
- A strong interest in nutrition and its role in hospital food service
- Experience in using an electronic menu management system such as Chefmax would be an advantage
- Current Food Handling certification would be an advantage

**COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement**

**Influenza Vaccination Requirement**
In line with the Health Services Amendment (Mandatory Vaccination of Healthcare Workers) Act 2020, some health care workers are now required to have their flu vaccination to work in health care. Evidence of vaccination is required.
