Brisbane, Australia Queensland Government Full time

As Brisbane's only dedicated primary-level special school in the north-east, we provide a highly supportive and inclusive environment where every child is empowered to belong, learn, and thrive.
**Current Opportunities**:
Special Education - Prep-6 (Temporary, ASAP - 12/12/25, Fraction Negotiable)
Why Geebung Special School?
Geebung Special School caters to students from birth to Year 6 with intellectual and multiple disabilities, offering a highly specialised and supportive educational setting in Brisbane's north-east.
Located in the leafy suburb of Geebung, the school is just 20 minutes from Brisbane's CBD and easily accessible via major roads and public transport, making it convenient for both families and staff.
Set on spacious grounds, the school provides a calm, natural environment with plenty of green space ideal for outdoor learning, therapy sessions, and wellbeing activities.
Students benefit from a very low student-to-staff ratio (approximately 1:3), allowing for personalised attention, consistent support, and targeted learning experiences.
Staff are supported by a multidisciplinary team including nurses, speech pathologists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and guidance officers, creating a collaborative, wrap-around care model.
Facilities are purpose-built for special education, including a sensory garden, orchard, bike track, purpose-built gym, indoor heated pool, and recently added Q-Block learning centre (opened in 2024).
Individual Curriculum Plans (ICPs) are designed for every student, tailored to their specific learning needs and focusing on communication, literacy, numeracy, physical development, and social skills.
The school's ethos, 'Together We Can,' reflects its inclusive and positive culture, where families and staff work in close partnership to support every child's learning journey.
Ongoing professional development, supportive leadership, and a tight-knit team culture make this an ideal workplace for educators, therapists, and support staff passionate about inclusive education.
Being part of the Geebung community offers the benefits of a suburban lifestyle with proximity to shopping centres, parks, and recreational facilities, while still being within easy reach of city-based services and professional networks.
