As a Commercial Analyst you will be in commercial business partnering with the Queensland Rail and Refrigerate and Straightline businesses to drive
improved decision making and sustained financial improvement.
Reporting directly to the Commercial Manager of Intermodal, your role
involves conducting detailed analysis, generating reports and being the key
liaison point between the operations, finance and customers to provide insight for business improvement, drive cost savings and negotiate outcomes. Some other responsibilities include:
- Deep analysis and providing commercial recommendations for approval
- Identifying areas for improvement in all aspects of the business, from financial to operations, and supporting corrective action implementation
- Facilitating working group sessions across operations and finance teams to support the Commercial Manager and General Managers
- Develop/maintain strong knowledge of the transport industry and the intermodal network
- Collaborate effectively to strategize, educate, implement change and optimise the business
- Build a thorough understanding of the P&L and articulate weekly and monthly financial performance
- Review & challenge financial results and contribute to business insights - Provide commercial oversight for key commercial contracts with customers and suppliers
- Analyse KPIs and contribute to the development of further business metrics
- Financial budgeting, forecasting & variance reporting
- Ability to utilise/develop cost models and contribute to value-add analysis
- Contributing to new business tenders and RFPs
- Support the preparation of business case and capital expenditure submissions
- Build strong relationships with operational branch managers across the national business, as well as General Managers of Operations and Finance
- Working collaboratively with other parts of the business to identify synergies, cost reduction opportunities and overall performance enhancement
Experience and attributes:
- Tertiary education qualifications in one of the following or closely related disciplines - Commerce (Economics, Finance, Accounting)
- Member of a Professional Accounting Association - CA/CPA/Equivalent
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders at different levels
- Proven problem-solving ability with a solutions orientation matched with an ability to resolve issues creatively
- Strong analytical and financial reporting skills
