Nursing support Worker

$56, 810 p.a

As an Aged Care Personnel working in an Australian nursing home, your primary responsibility is to provide care and support to elderly residents. You will be an integral part of a team dedicated to ensuring the physical, emotional, and social well-being of the residents. Your duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Personal Care: Assist residents with their daily activities, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting. Provide support with mobility and transfers, always ensuring safety and comfort.

2. Medication Management: Administer medications to residents as per the prescribed dosage and schedule. Maintain accurate records of medication administration and report any concerns or changes in residents' conditions to the appropriate healthcare professionals.

3. Health Monitoring: Observe and monitor residents' health status, including vital signs, symptoms, and any changes in their physical or mental condition. Report any concerns or abnormalities to the nursing or medical staff promptly.

4. Emotional Support: Foster a compassionate and supportive environment for residents. Engage in meaningful conversations, listen attentively to their concerns, and provide emotional support to promote their well-being and quality of life.

5. Social Engagement: Encourage residents to participate in social activities and recreational programs within the nursing home. Organize and facilitate group activities, outings, and events to promote social interaction and maintain a sense of community.

6. Meal Assistance: Assist residents with meal preparation, serving, and feeding as required. Monitor and address any dietary restrictions or preferences to ensure residents' nutritional needs are met.

7. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of residents' care plans, assessments, observations, and any incidents or changes in their condition. Follow established protocols for documentation and reporting, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with privacy regulations.

8. Safety and Hygiene: Ensure a clean, safe, and hygienic environment for residents. Adhere to infection control protocols, follow proper hand hygiene practices, and assist with maintaining cleanliness in residents' living areas.

9. Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team, including nurses, doctors, allied health professionals, and support staff. Communicate relevant information, participate in care planning meetings, and contribute to the overall care and well-being of residents.

10. Professional Development: Stay updated with industry standards, regulations, and best practices in aged care. Engage in continuous professional development activities to enhance your knowledge and skills, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care to residents.

Qualifications and Requirements for the Role
- Ability to relate to the elderly
- Experience for 12 months or more in a similar environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexible to work shift work
- Qualifications preferred in addition to work experience
- Be able to commence immediately

**Salary**: $27.00 - $36.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift

Licence/Certification:

- First Aid Certification (preferred)
- Driver Licence (preferred)

Work Authorisation:

- Australia (preferred)
