Sessional Science Communicator or Teacher

**Mad About Science In Schools is currently seeking a science communicator or qualified teacher for casual science presentations, or incursions, to primary school students and other audiences.**

In this unique role, enjoy flexible hours and work days, meet new people, and inspire a whole new generation of budding scientists

Training and all the materials required to conduct quality curriculum-aligned science workshops throughout Brisbane and QLD is provided. Topics covered include: chemical, physical, biological, STEM and earth and space sciences. We sure know how to bring science to life and get students excited by science

**The successful applicant must be organised, friendly and enthusiastic, relate well to children of all ages, have well-developed verbal communication skills, and have a strong interest in science. They will be available at least 3 days per week and look to remain in the role for a minimum 12 month period.**

Qualified teachers experienced in class management will be looked on favourably, but a teaching degree is not essential. Availability to work on weekends and during the school term breaks is an advantage.

**SKILLS & EXPERIENCE**:

- Prepared and able to travel throughout QLD and regions;
- Access to transport;
- Primary teacher experience or qualification (not essential);
- Strong interest in science and/or a science degree;
- Current Working With Children Check;
- Vaccinated against COVID-19
- Highly developed verbal communication skills;
- Ability to communicate science clearly and accurately, in an engaging and relevant way; and
- Have a friendly, flexible and personable demeanour.
