Paediatric Speech Pathology Internship
**About the Role**
Been in paediatrics before? Wonderful. Looking to move into it? Even better. This role is all about **growth**, **support**, and **trust** — wherever you're starting from.
Based in Melbourne, we offer in-person and online therapy with flexibility built in — because your nervous system matters too. We don’t see this as a top-down “training” role. We see it as a **shared space** where you bring your voice, curiosity, and care — and we grow together.
We hold close the words of Gangulu woman Lilla Watson:
“If you have come here to help me, you are wasting your time. But if you have come because your liberation is bound up with mine, then let us work together.”
This is what we’re offering — a place to walk alongside children, families, and each other with **respect, reflection, and reciprocity**.
**Who we are**
We’re a values-driven, neurodiversity-affirming team that sees therapy as a **relationship, not a routine**. We believe:
- children learn best when they feel safe - families are experts in their own lives - therapists do their best work when they’re **resourced**, not rushed
Our service has two arms:
- **Trust Children** — supporting children and their families through collaborative, strengths-based therapy.
- **ReadyStepGrow** — empowering parents of premature babies through evidence-informed programs that honour both the science and the nervous system.
Together, we walk alongside families with care — from the very beginning, and as their needs evolve.
**What this internship offers**
- A **structured, paid internship** in a paediatric private practice - A gradual, supported caseload with time for **reflection and multidisciplinary collaboration**:
- Weekly supervision that honours your **whole self** (not just your clinical notes)
- Paid **wellness and professional development days** (pro rata)
- Gentle exposure to both service arms, if aligned with your goals
- Opportunities to contribute to **creative, child-led projects** (like _Brave Sparks_)
- A rare opportunity to step into part of a senior clinician’s caseload — we’re planning ahead with a **gentle, well-supported handover that unfolds over time (not all at once)**
**You might be**
- New to paediatrics or wanting to level up in a space that offers **support, reflection, and connection**:
- Someone who wants to practise **relationally** — and resist the rush - Ready to walk **alongside families**, rather than work _on_ them
- Interested in early relational pathways, communication that unfolds naturally, and care that doesn’t start with compliance
**Employment details**
- This is a **paid internship**:
- Part-time, negotiable up to **3 days per week**:
- **5 weeks of annual leave** (above award), plus **wellness and PD days** (pro rata)
- **Award classification**: Health Professionals and Support Services Award [MA000027] - Level 2, Pay Point 4
- Includes regular **supervision** with senior clinicians who are leaders in the field and **collaborative caseload planning**
**We welcome you as you are**
We don’t need you to have all the answers. We’re more interested in your willingness to **grow slowly, reflect deeply, and practise gently**.
