Bungree Aboriginal Association is an Aboriginal Community based organisation which provides a wide range of services to help Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. As the largest Aboriginal not for profit organisation on the Central Coast, Bungree is a multi-service organisation delivering programs and services to the Central Coast, as well as parts of Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and the Upper Hunter in New South Wales.

Bungree Aboriginal Association is delivering the Family Dispute Resolution (FDR) program to Central Coast, Lake Macquarie, Newcastle, Cessnock and Maitland areas. This service commenced in 2023 to establish culturally safe and appropriate family dispute resolution for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families, with the aim of resolving family law disputes out of court. The FDR program provides Families continuous multi-faceted and individually tailored casework and assistance services. The FDR program will be undertaken in a confidential, ethical, collaborative, transparent, respectful and culturally responsive manner and always prioritises children’s safety, welfare and wellbeing.

**The Opportunity**:
We have an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified applicant to provide a range of high quality, child focused interventions to families post separation, who are experiencing various levels of conflict and need support reaching agreements in relation to their children and/ or the distribution of property. The role includes intake, risk assessment, case management, and the provision of interventions including mediation and child inclusive practice under the jurisdiction of the Family Law Act 1975, Family Law (Family Dispute Resolution Practitioners) Regulations 2008 and Bungree process and procedures.

This position will also provide a range of high-quality general mediation services as required. These may include, but not be limited to situations in which clients seek assistance with managing the process of dispute and conflict resolution. The role involves supporting clients to identify issues, develop options, consider alternatives, and make decisions about outcomes.

**Key Responsibilities will include**:

- Provide a range of integrated support and information services to assist families, individuals and children with issues relevant to Family Dispute Resolution
- Facilitate groups, seminars and workshops
- Conduct intake assessments, develop case plans and parenting agreements
- Facilitate effective referral and promotion of services
- Participate and engage in regular practice supervision
- Participate in program and service evaluations
- Share knowledge and information to contribute to the team’s growth and development

**Qualification and Experience Requirements**:

- Fully qualified Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner, and current accreditation with the Attorney General’s Department as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner.
- Demonstrated experience working in Case Management of Aboriginal Families and/or Children & Young People
- Working knowledge of the Child Protection legislation (Child and Young Persons Care & Protection Act 1988) and how it pertains to Aboriginal Children and Families
- Commitment to supporting people of diverse backgrounds
- Manage the FDR register and complete your professional development activity requirements
- Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people
- An understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
- An ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.
- Administrative skills including use and accurately entering information onto systems, databases
- Participate in, and represent Bungree at networking events and activities with stakeholders, other agencies, and staff

**Mandatory Requirements**
- Confirmation of Aboriginality (Aboriginal Designated position under section 14 of the NSW Anti-discrimination Act 1977).
