- Reporting to the Field Supervisor, the Protection Automation & Control Technician will play a key role in commissioning, operating, and maintaining both primary and secondary equipment and systems across distribution, zone, and sub-transmission substations and networks.
- Your key responsibilities will include:
- Safely commission, operate, and maintain primary (e.g. circuit breakers, transformers) and secondary equipment/systems (e.g. protection, automation, communication) across substations and networks.
- Perform complex fault-finding and resolve technical issues in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Conduct technical investigations and implement solutions.
- Complete documentation for commissioning, maintenance, and fault-finding activities.
- Use engineering systems and interpret technical documents, standards, and procedures.
- Lead on-site teams, supervise tasks, and ensure safety compliance.
- Support emergency response operations and contribute to project planning.

**To be successful, you must have**:
- Qualification in a relevant electrical trade - Cert III Electrotechnology Systems Electrician (or equivalent).
- A Class C drivers’ licence.
- A WH&S Work Cover - General Induction.
- Sound knowledge of relevant statutes, regulations and procedures such as safe working practices, network standards and codes of practice.
- Demonstrated experience in carrying out commissioning, maintenance, operation and fault finding of primary equipment and secondary equipment/systems in accordance with relevant Operating.
- Ability to work in distribution, zone and sub-transmission substations without supervision.
