The QHSE Engineer leads the development and continuous improvement of quality, health, safety, and environmental systems. They ensure regulatory compliance, foster a strong safety and environmental culture, and drive strategic enhancements across all QHSE areas.

Strategy & Leadership
- Champion a culture of safety, quality, and environmental awareness.
- Lead the development and continuous improvement of integrated QHSE systems.
- Set and monitor QHSE strategies, objectives, and targets.
- Advise the Executive Leadership Team on QHSE matters.

Governance
- Conduct internal audits and site inspections.
- Develop and implement QHSE policies and procedures.
- Support emergency and business continuity planning.
- Manage QHSE records and ensure compliance programs are effective.
- Audit contractor QHSE documentation and performance.

Integrated Management Systems (IMS)
- Maintain a compliant and fit-for-purpose IMS aligned with WHS, environmental legislation, and ISO standards.
- Implement QHSE programs per legal and corporate requirements.

Risk Management & Reporting
- Identify and manage QHSE risks across the business.
- Keep leadership informed of risk exposure and mitigation.
- Deliver regular and ad hoc QHSE reports.
- Review internal controls for compliance and effectiveness.

Representation, Relationships and Communications
- Build strong relationships with contractors, regulators, and government bodies.
- Issue stop work orders when safety is compromised.
- Participate in industry committees and regulatory development.

Compliance
- Monitor and assess legal compliance with WHS and environmental standards.
- Report non-compliances internally and externally.
- Support regulatory reporting and ensure accurate QHSE KPI submissions

Required Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, strong knowledge of QHSE standards and regulations, and proven leadership in cultivating a safety-first culture

Languages
- English

Skills
- Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and organisational skills; proficient in data analysis and risk management; capable of producing clear and impactful HSE reports for various audiences.
- 8+years of operational HSE experience in power generation.
- Master’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety with expertise in; Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Ergonomics, Psychosociology.
- Practical experience with WHS and environmental legislation, codes of practice, and Australian Standards.
- Sector experience in energy or renewables.
- Skilled in inspection, auditing, and testing within QHSE environments.
- Experience implementing corrective action programs.
- Strong data analysis and statistical skills.
- Experienced in developing and documenting process control materials (e.g., policies, procedures, plans, manuals)
- Ability to travel interstate if required.
