Position Description

Section I: General Information

Position Title: Tutor

Grade/Subgrade: Year 3 to 12

**Salary**: $25- $75 / hour

Subject: Mathematics, English, General Science, Physics, Biology, Chemistry,

Work hours: 4:30pm-6:00pm or 6:30pm to 8:00pm

Job Summary:
At Pal Education, a tutor’s effort and orientation are to be directed towards student growth in education. The tutor also endeavors to establish a wholesome and respectful relationship with parents.

The aim of Pal Education tutors must be to fulfill and support the academic journey of their students, by instilling disciplinary actions, mindful attention to their weaknesses, and a clear explanation of content regarding their area of expertise.

Under the guidance of the Pal Education Directors, the tutor must plan for and provide appropriate learning experiences for students. The tutor will organize and maintain a learning environment conducive to the intellectual physical, social, and emotional development of individuals to ensure success for every student. The tutor is expected to develop, select, and modify instructional plans and materials to suit the needs of all students of all levels.

The tutor is responsible for the monitorisation and evaluation of student outcomes. They will communicate and interact with students, parents, staff, and the community in a professional manner. The tutor will utilize technological platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Onenote, and Microsoft Planner to send notices to students and parents on a regular basis such as homework due dates, test results, event reminders e.t.c. The tutor is responsible for the maintenance of records and required policies, and the monitorisation of the appropriate use of school equipment, materials, and facilities.

Section II: Essential

**Responsibilities**:
1. Plan a program of study that meets the needs, interests, and abilities of students.

Tasks involved in fulfilling above duty/responsibility:
Create a caring, respectful, and diligent classroom environment that provides students with numerous opportunities for involvement in the learning process.

Conduct assessments/tests/quizzes frequently to ensure students understand their content thoroughly. All assessments and tests conducted must be recorded to inform parents of their child’s progress, as well as to be used as a guide so that all students have an opportunity to learn from their mistakes.

Revise data and academic performance of students to determine areas of improvement, so that classwork adheres to mend the gaps in their knowledge and understanding.

2. Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct and, for the classroom.

Tasks involved in fulfilling above duty/responsibility:
Take attendance and keep track of students who are present and not present in the classroom.

Take all necessary safety precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, ad facilities.

Make provisions for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.

3. Maintain Professionalism

Tasks involved in fulfilling above duty/responsibility:
Submit lesson plans, required activities, paperwork, and other documents to administration free from error and in a timely manner.

Be constructive towards the administration and be willing to talk about understandings of positive practices, negative practices, or practices that must be revised/changed.

4. Teacher to Parent Bond

Tasks involved in fulfilling above duty/responsibility:
Regularly report to parents about their child’s progress, engagement, due tasks/assignments/events.

Inform Parents of ways to improve their child’s educational growth at home, by offering various types of activities that can further their progress.

Send results and data about student progress throughout the year.

Utilise online platforms (Microsoft Teams) to communicate with parents.

5. Performs other duties of a like or similar nature as apparent or assigned

Tasks involved in fulfilling above duty/responsibility

Remain current with research and best practices in curriculum, through professional readings, training, workshop attendance, etc.

Other tasks as assigned by the Pal Education Directors

**Job Types**: Part-time, Casual
Part-time hours: 10 per week

**Salary**: $25.00 - $75.00 per hour

Supplemental pay types:
