The Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Counselling team at Better Health Network (BHN), dedicated to providing specialist therapeutic counselling using evidence-based psychological interventions. Our team has a strong collaborative spirit and has worked together to support diverse client needs, including self-referred individuals, family members, those referred by the criminal justice system, and people facing complex health and social challenges.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Provide person-centered, therapeutic evidence-based psychological interventions, including assessment, treatment planning, and referral.
- Complete AOD comprehensive assessments and identify clinical treatment and support needs.
- Develop treatment plans and facilitate access to various treatment services.
- Provide brief interventions and crisis counselling to clients awaiting service access.
- Conduct risk assessments and comply with legislative requirements for family violence and child information sharing.
**About you**
**- Qualification in Counselling or Social Work.
- Core Competencies in AOD or higher.
- Demonstrated experience in counselling and therapeutic approaches for AOD and co-occurring conditions.
- Skills in assessment, risk management, and treatment planning within the AOD system.
- Knowledge of current evidence-based AOD practices and trauma-informed care.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Efficient computer, database, and typing skills. Commitment to the Social Model of Health.
