Pharmacy Assistants

The Role
An opportunity has become available for several Pharmacy Assistants to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 12 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.
You will
- Prepare, distribute and dispense pharmaceuticals (including Schedule 8 medicines) under the supervision of a pharmacist
- Assist with inventory management in the pharmacy and in clinical areas
- Assist with the training and mentoring of other pharmacy support staff
- Undertake rotations through other roles including Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme claim preparation and processing and non-sterile and sterile product manufacture
- Assist with the collation and maintenance of pharmacy data

About you

**To be successful in this position you will require**:

- Certificate III as a Pharmacy Assistant (Certificate III in Community Pharmacy SIR30116 or Certificate III in Hospital/Health Services Pharmacy Support HLT37115)
- A Certificate of Competency in 'HLTPHA001 - Maintain Pharmaceutical Imprest' module, as part of a Certificate III in Hospital Pharmacy is a legal requirement for undertaking imprest duties. Applicants who do not have a certificate of competency in this module are expected to complete it (at their own expense) within 3 months of commencing employment
- The ability to work on a rostered/rotational basis and participate in the weekend and public holiday roster as required
- The ability to participate in manual handling requirements
- Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (Chicken Pox), Pertussis (Whooping Cough), Hepatitis B and COVID 19
- Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
- Declaration of serious discipline history must be completed

Salary
- Permanent full time, permanent part time and temporary part time (one permanent full time position, one permanent part time position, 22.8 hrs p.f., and one temporary part time, 38 hrs p.f., 6 months with the possibility of extension)
- Base salary ranging from $61 464 - $64 613 per annum or $30.99 - $32.58 per hour

The Pharmacy Service provides medication management services across the Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service, through inpatient units, outpatient clinics and in all facilities where medicines are being utilised for care of patients. Our team of over 80 pharmacists are assisted in their roles by 40 support persons made up of pharmacy technicians, pharmacy assistants, administration officers, purchasing and stores personnel. Based in Southport and Robina.
