**THE POSITION**

We are looking for a passionate, child-centred Lead Educator to join our team.

A full-time position has become available for 6 months. We are seeking a creative, dedicated team member who has a genuine passion for child-centred learning and a strong understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework.

The Lead Educator reports to the Deputy Head of Primary - Early Learning. All staff are employed by the CEO & Executive Principal.

All staff need to be supportive of the values, Christian ethos and Ethical Statement of this Uniting Church Day school for girls from PP-12.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- The Lead Educator is in charge of a group of children in the age range from birth to twelve years and is responsible for:_
- Ensuring that a developmentally appropriate program is planned, implemented and evaluated for each child.
- Assessing the needs of each child and monitoring the child’s progress.
- Ensuring the records are maintained and are up to date concerning children in their care.
- Maintaining effective communication with the parent/s of each child in that group.
- Working in partnership with children and families to support learning outcomes.
- Nurturing each child and providing individual attention and comfort as required.
- Understanding and working according to the Childcare Centre’s policy.
- Ensuring a safe environment is provided for the children.
- Ensuring the health and safety of all children in their care.

**SKILLS AND ABILITIES**
- The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:_
- Broad knowledge of child development and current early childhood trends and practices.
- Well-developed oral and written communication skills.
- Competent IT skills.

**EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE**
- Diploma of Community Services (Children’s Services) or equivalent.

**CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS**
- Working with Children Suitability Card is essential.
- First Aid Certificate

**WORK ENVIRONMENT**
- This role requires a high level of physical activity and requires a physically capable individual.
- On occasion there will be a need to lift a child (approx weight 15kg)
- Excellent auditory and visual capacity is required because of child safety.

**CONDITIONS AND SALARY**
- This is a full-time fixed term position
- Wages are paid according to the Moreton Bay College Enterprise Agreement.
- Annual Leave entitlement
- Sick Leave entitlement
- Long Service Leave entitlement of 1.3 weeks for each year of service, which can be taken after 7 years.
- The College contributes superannuation on behalf of the employee.
