**Laboratory Technician - LOCAL GOVERNMENT organisation**

- Work hours 8.15am to 4.00pm
- Toowoomba - Mt Kynoch Location

**WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR**:

- Formal qualification (Certificate Level III in Laboratory Techniques or equivalent) in laboratory work.
- If you do not hold a Cert III in Laboratory Techniques, this must be obtained within 12 months after start date
- Capacity and willingness to undertake further studies to maintain standard of knowledge and skills base within laboratory operations (tertiary studies preferable).
- Current QLD ‘C’ Class manual drivers licence.
- A diploma in Laboratory Techniques, Chemistry, etc. desirable

**ABOUT THE ROLE**:

- Provide support to the Scientists and other Laboratory Services staff, including the provision of routine information
- Perform basic/routine laboratory testing as required
- Prepare bacteriological media
- Clean laboratory glassware and apparatus and prepare sample containers
- Collect water, wastewater and environmental samples
- Assist in conducting sub-sampling
- Enter sample and result information into the Laboratory Information Management System, and produce routine reports
- Provide backup to Microbiology, Biological Oxygen Demand and Suspended Solids
