About the Role:
Liaise with a range of internal and external stakeholders including Magistrates, Judges, Youth Justice Services, legal representatives, police, Community Justice Groups and community organisations, providing a departmental perspective.
Build strong relationships with young people and families involved in the Youth Justice System.
Assess the young person's enrolment status and liaise with them and their family/carers, their legal representative, police prosecutions, and youth justice staff to offer education assistance if required.
Refer young people, including those with mínimal required intervention, and those with high complex educational needs, to avenues for direct support/advocacy.
Provide information related to a young person's educational history to the Courts.
Act as a conduit in finding appropriate educational pathways in liaison with Youth Justice and Department of Education regions such as the Youth Engagement Hubs, Senior Guidance Officers, Principals, etc.
Develop an education plan to support a young person to transition into a suitable educational pathway in consultation with the young person, their family, Child Safety, Youth Justice and other relevant stakeholders.
Ensure privacy and confidentiality requirements are adhered to so that information obtained from young people and families and departmental information systems is used within legislative and policy requirements.
Establish and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to assist with young people's re-engagement in educational pathways.
