**About the role
The purpose of this role is to contribute to consumers of the older persons community mental health team by completing advanced clinical support tasks delegated under the direct or indirect supervision of an Allied Health Professional (Dietitian, Exercise Physiologist, Occupational Therapist, Psychologist, Social Worker and Speech Pathologist). The role provides support for consumers, who are over 65 with mental health issues, to achieve their identified recovery goals.
About you
- Knowledge of the roles of Allied Health Professionals and experience working within a delegation framework in a mental health service context is highly desirable.
- Self-management skills, including time management, an ability to identify, organise, plan and prioritise tasks, complete duties in a timely manner with limited supervision, anticipate and problem solve, and ability to follow directions and working in a team environment.
- Possess a high level of communication skills to develop rapport and a professional relationship with consumers. This includes providing assertive and active supports to encourage consumers to achieve their goals.
- Ability to assess individual needs, abilities and interests to appropriately plan, implement and evaluate mental health consumer-focused independent living programs and social engagement strategies.
- Ability to establish and maintain respectful relationships and work harmoniously with all members of the multidisciplinary team within a delegation model.
- Ability to demonstrate leadership skills including assisting with peer reflection, mentorship and guidance.
- A commitment to operational and professional supervision and a commitment to continuous professional development.
Mandatory Requirements:
Completion of recognised training at least equivalent to a Cert IV in Mental Health Work (non-clinical).
Highly desirable to have additional qualifications e.g. Diploma in Mental Health or degree qualification in Human Services field.
Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
