Ballarat Steiner School and Kindergarten is seeking a Prep (Foundation year) Teacher.

Permanent position 1.0 FTE. Start date negotiable, as soon as possible is preferred.

Ballarat Steiner School is located on a beautiful rural campus just 15 minutes from Ballarat Central and 5 minutes from the boutique village of Buninyong. Our ten-acre site includes woodland, a natural watercourse and lake, vegetable gardens, a playgroup room, Kindergarten, and Classes Prep - 6. The Prep room has its own outdoor space incorporating a large sandpit, equipment made from natural materials, gardens, and fruit trees. Indoors there are inviting play materials, tables for eating together, and a kitchen where an assistant prepares morning tea. Our Prep program follows the Australian Steiner Curriculum Framework, a legally accepted alternative to the ACARA national curriculum. The successful applicant will be expected to uphold the values and purpose of Ballarat Steiner School and Kindergarten, and to contribute to the whole school.

This role is ideal for a teacher who has a strong sense of self and of purpose, is responsive, curious, and a life-long learner.

Essential criteria:

- VIT registration,
- Current child protection training,
- Current first aid training,
- Current asthma and anaphylaxis training.
- A willingness to undertake study in Steiner Education, if you haven’t already done so.
- Experience teaching this age group.
- Excellent intrapersonal and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience creating a safe and supportive learning environment for all children.
- Experience developing and delivering teaching and learning programs that incorporate oral language and numeracy skills, song, poetry and spoken word, craft, outdoor play, movement, and social and emotional development.

Highly desirable:

- Previous experience working in a Steiner / Waldorf school
