Opportunity to join Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) in the lead up to the anticipated Referendum.

Hays is proud to partner with the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) in preparation for the anticipated Referendum.

**About the position**

During the preparation phase of the electoral cycle, you will be responsible for managing the accuracy and completeness of the electoral roll for approximately 100,000 electors within your division. Maintaining the electoral roll allows electors to exercise their franchise at federal, state, and local government elections. You will also lead your team in planning and preparing for the next federal event.

During the mobilisation phase of the electoral cycle, you will be responsible for the delivery of the electoral event for your division, collaborating with your peers within the site to coordinate the largest peace time activity in Australia, and recruiting and mobilising up to 80,000 staff.

You will contribute to the development of team objectives for short-term tasks and strategic planning for longer-term initiatives, including setting priorities for the work area, managing team performance, and ensuring quality output for the work area. A key component of this role is managing multiple priorities at the same time.

During the electoral event you will be responsible for the overall supervision of our temporary election staff, using your leadership skills to efficiently support the expanding workforce requirements.

You will join the leadership team committed to learning, self-development and are responsible for building technical capability and fostering career development of its people.

The standard working week is 37.5 hours, however you will be required to work extended hours and manage key projects with fixed deadlines during an election/referendum period, including multiple weekends and evenings.
- Experience in the administration of major logístical events with demonstrated ability to persist with and focus on achieving objectives.
- Ability to remain positive and respond to pressure in a calm manner, while committing energy and drive to see that goals are achieved.
- Strong leadership and management focus, with exceptional delegation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, with a strong commitment to working harmoniously within a team to achieve positive results and support the AEC’s strategic direction.
- Agility, flexibility and a willingness to be deployed to offices across Queensland that require support during an electoral event. Where travel is excessive, accommodation will be paid for.

**Eligibility**

Due to the nature of this role, to be eligible for this position applicants must:

- Be an Australian Citizen.
- Be able to obtain and maintain a Police Check.
- Be able to sign a Political Neutrality Statement
- Be able to provide contact details of two referees, including a current supervisor.
