**THE ROLE**
- Temporary Full Time
- Contract until 30th June 2026
- Newcastle & Hunter based role
- This role is paid under the Social, Community, Home Care & Disability Services Award 2010- Level 4

The family worker role is designed to support young people aged 12-15 in the refuge to return home to family where it is safe to do so. The role requires a skilled and qualified family worker to support young people and families address the causes of relationship breakdowns and communicate effectively to prevent further relationship breakdowns occurring in the future.

**ESSENTIALS**
- Tertiary qualifications in Social Sciences/Community Welfare/Social Work or equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years experience in equivalent position
- Creative and flexible approach to working with families to achieve restoration
- Highly developed case management skills working with young people and families
- Positive communication and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to maintain and model professional boundaries
- Commitment to the rights and responsibilities of young people
- Demonstrated ability to work with people who have suffered trauma and support them to develop skills
- Experience in the provision of person-centred practice
- Experience in employing strengths-based practice and systems theory
- Ability to provide evidence based practices and programs to families to prevent family breakdowns occurring in the future
- Ability to assess and act appropriately on risks and strengths of young people and families
- Comprehensively insured, sound and well maintained motor vehicle as transportation of young people in your vehicle may be required

The successful applicant will possess or willingness to obtain the following: NSW Working with Children Check, NDIS Worker Screening Check, first aid & CPR certificate and undertake a pre-employment functional medical.
