Thomas Hassall Anglican College is a vibrant P-12 independent College located with close

The College is seeking to employ a dynamic, experienced Duke of Edinburgh / Outdoor
Education teacher or non-teacher. The successful applicant will have either a 0.5FTE teaching
load or equivalent tasks/role to support staff and students across the College programs.
The Duke of Edinburgh Program at the College includes the following:
- Gold, Silver and Bronze levels operating annually across the year
- Over 400 students registered for Duke of Edinburgh in 2025
- Over 300 students in current Award Programs in 2024
- A combination of self-funded and College supported programs
- A good support network of Alumni students
- A sustainable level of staff volunteers
**Key Selection Criteria**
The successful applicant for the above position must be able to provide evidence to support
the following criteria:
- Strong personal Christian faith and be a regular and practising member of a Bible-based
Christian Church
- Demonstrated experience in facilitating a large and dynamic Duke of Edinburgh or
equivalent outdoor education program.
- Capacity to work as a team with colleagues and leaders to continually improve teaching
and learning.
- Employ effective strategies for managing expeditions, monitoring participant wellbeing
as well as an ability to develop positive partnerships with College families.
- Capacity to lead and work as part of a team for the Duke of Edinburgh Program.
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of the integration of technology in the delivery
of learning and maintaining records.**
- Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills, critical analysis and
problem-solving skills.
**Qualifications**
- Appropriate teaching qualifications and NESA accreditation (if applicable)
- Senior First Aid, Wilderness First Aid is preferable

**Duke of Edinburgh Coordinator**
**Primary Purpose**:
The Duke of Edinburgh Coordinator will work with staff to lead the Strategic Plan related to
improvement and innovation of the Co-curricular Program including the Duke of Edinburgh
Program and the broader service-learning programs across the College.
**Accountable to**:
The Principal through the Deputy Principal, Head of Senior School
**Directly reports to**:
Director of Co-curricular
**Relates to**:
1. Deputy Principals
2. Coordinator of Operations
3. Director of Student Wellbeing
4. Year Advisors
5. Staff
**The Duke of Edinburgh team consist of the following**:
1. Dukes Assistant
2. Volunteer teachers assisting with expeditions
3. Alumni students assisting with expeditions
4. College staff assisting with the organisation of administration (equipment, logging data,
budgeting)
**Major Responsibilities**
The Duke of Edinburgh Coordinator is responsible to the Principal through the Deputy
Principal, Head of Senior School and reports directly to the Director of Co-curricular. Their
responsibilities include the following duties:
- Ensure all relevant information regarding Dukes events are clearly communicated to
staff and students well in advance of actual dates including safety information, required
equipment, start and end times.
- Oversee the audit of College owned equipment and ensure items are safe and in good
working order. Arrange the purchasing of new equipment when required.
