**College Overview**
Emmaus Christian College is an independent, non-denominational Christian school. We provide high quality Christian education to children and young people who are from Christian families that are actively involved in their local church and other families who fully support the involvement of their children in the Christian teaching, life and expression of the school.
Emmaus Christian College is one school, two campuses. The Brooklyn Park Campus caters for ELC to Year 6. The South Plympton Campus caters for Foundation to Year 12.
Both campuses offer a seamless pathway to Year 12 where children who have been offered a Foundation to Year 6 position at Brooklyn Park, have at the end of Year 6, a guaranteed entry into Year 7 at the South Plympton campus.
At Emmaus Christian College we want our students to:

**Key Purpose**
**Key Responsibilities**
- Support staff in their planning of, and regularly attend, weekly worship sessions.
- Work with key staff (ELC-12) in the active maintenance of a sequential Christian Studies program throughout the College.
- Facilitate creative approaches for College-wide engagement of significant Christian celebrations and events, and opportunities for faith formation and service; for example - the lead up to and celebration of Easter and Christmas (being respectful of an interdenominational Christian community).
- Provide Christian pastoral support to staff, students and (where appropriate) the wider school community.
- Contribute to the staff devotional life of the College with a preparedness to regularly lead these times as required.
- Active participation in, and development of Christian focus/prayer groups with students. These may include student-led lunchtime groups.
- Develop effective working relationships with members of the Advisory Panel and other local Churches associated with the College, including attendance at monthly Advisory Panel meetings.
- Work closely with relevant staff to support student wellbeing across the College.
- Regularly pray with, and for, members of the school community.
- Be an active participant in the ECCO (Emmaus Christian College Outreach) committee.
**Education, Experience and Skills**
- Active membership in an evangelical Christian Church.
- An understanding of the theory and practice of Christian Education in an Early Learning Centre to Year 12 school context.
- An accredited theological qualification, preferably at degree level (or working towards).
- A strong component of training/experience in pastoral care.
- Be an inspiring and engaging speaker who is able to connect with students, staff and parents.
- A teaching qualification would be considered an advantage.
**Personal Attributes**
- The Chaplain must have a strong and overt personal faith, model strong Christian character, and embrace living a life consistent with those beliefs.
- Demonstrate a genuine interest in people and their life stories.
- Have a strong desire to see people actively pursue a life lived for Christ, and passionate in working with people at various stages along this journey.
- A demonstrated ability to work across, and unite, individuals from a wide range of different Christian backgrounds.
- Proven ability to lead people with the capacity to motivate staff, inspire students, and communicate with all members of the school community, including sound theological teaching/preaching.
- Demonstrate enthusiasm for all aspects of school life, and the ability to foster that enthusiasm in others.
- Demonstrate sensitivity to the range of contexts (both staff and students) within the school and tailor an approach to support Christ-centred development within different community groups.
- Demonstrate a strong, proven ability to think and plan strategically; to form and carry out action plans, and evaluate the outcomes.
- Have capacity for personal reflection and engage in continuing professional learning.
**Selection Criteria**
- Be a committed Christian with a strong passion for Biblically based Christian education.
- Completion of formal theological training, or working towards.
- Demonstrated active involvement within a Christian community, youth organisations or similar, demonstrating a heart for service.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with strengths in building relationships with others, and providing pastoral care to students as required.
- Effective communication skills, including demonstrated ability to speak to large groups of people.
- Empathetic approach, with the ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
