Are you up for the challenge?

We are currently looking for an experienced Design Manager to join our South West Metro Corridor (SWMC) Project based in Canterbury.

Working on our SWMC Project, you will be responsible for the effective management of external consultants, coordinating multiple disciplines and construction requirements all to ensure tender and project designs meet with JHG expectations and are delivered to time, client requirements and budget. This position will also see you working on design management improvement initiatives.

**Responsibilities of this role;**
- Maintain relationships with design partners
- Review design and engineering management activities on tenders and projects in consultation with other managers and professionals
- Ensure tender and project design management resource needs are met with appropriate staff
- Review design management systems for best practice and recommend updates - advocate design management improvements
- Prepare and maintain design management budgets and work schedules
- Review selection and engagement of design consultants with tenders and provide appropriate commercial support
- Act in the role of Design Manager where necessary on tenders and projects

**To be successful in this key role, you must have;**
- This position will require you to hold a degree qualification in Engineering and be a Chartered Engineer or working towards Chartership with Engineer’s Australia or equivalent.
- You will have extensive experience specialising in infrastructure delivery, design, engineering and construction, as well as demonstrated management of a technical team in the delivery of design and engineering solutions for tenders and projects.
- To succeed in this role, you will have strong financial management skills in planning and managing budgets including proven capability in reducing costs. The ability to nurture client relationships and utilise your excellent stakeholder management skills is essential.
- You will have experience of working on complex rail projects and possess knowledge of the principles, practices, operations, services and activities of rail engineering and the integration of railway engineering.
