**About this Opportunity**
The School of Design & Built Environment is seeking to enhance its capacity and leadership within Education through the appointment of 5 x Continuing Academics, with appointments commencing at Associate Lecturer (ALA) level, who will undertake teaching and research (T&R). You should be passionate about delivering high-quality, modern, and innovative teaching and research. Your expertise should encompass how this teaching and research aligns with (a) interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary design and built environment practices, (b) supports students, colleagues, community members, and policy makers in pursuing 'just' sustainability, and (c) works to include language, culture, and pedagogical traditions of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people.
The School of Design and the Built Environments’ teaching and research focuses on sustainable environments, design thinking and practice-based excellence.

**The School brings a practice-based approach focussed on impact in the areas of**:

- Design including fashion, gaming and animation, digital design, graphic design, fabrication, illustration, user experience, and photography
- Architecture and Interior Architecture

- **Associate Lecturer**Full time (part time will be considered). Teaching and Research Academics currently enrolled in a PhD in Design and Built Environment disciplines. All applicants must be able to teach and research across two or more disciplines in the School.

**Essential Selection Criteria**
- Progress towards a doctoral qualification in relevant discipline(s).
- Demonstrated ability to teach effectively as well as a commitment to reflective improvement in teaching delivery.
- Experience in teaching, research, and /or professional practice in two of more of the discipline areas in the School of Design & Built Environment.
- Demonstrated competency in a range of qualitative and quantitative research tasks (e.g. creative practice research methodologies such as autoethnographies, advanced design generation techniques, reflective, critical research practices, quantitative and qualitative data collection, data analysis and reporting etc.).
- An understanding of current pedagogical approaches and contemporary professional practice relevant to the discipline(s).
- An emerging research track record/potential to conduct quality research and contribute productively to research teams.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to curriculum review and renewal.
- Demonstrated high level organisational skills.
- Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross cultural sensitivity.
