Community Engagement Officer
12-month contract role with extension likely
WFH/Hybrid working - office based in Newcastle
$45 - 50 hourly

**Your new company**
Our client is a government organisation based throughout NSW. This role will be located in their Newcastle office, however they client is extremely flexible and open to WFH/hybrid model. The client is a lead agency in their industry, they are currently working on delivering a large project across the state.
**Your new role**
Ideally, you will be based in the Central Coast, Newcastle, or the Hunter Valley. You will have strong knowledge of the area and a passion for community engagement.
Working with multiple projects teams, you will be responsible for:
- Supporting the development, implementation and evaluation of communication and stakeholder engagement strategies and plans to assist the effective management of community information and engagement needs for the multiple infrastructure projects and programs.
- Development of collateral and creative, including drafting and submitting media releases, letters and assisting projects teams with their general marketing information.
- Coordinating and providing support in the delivery of events, workshops, and community consultation activities to maximise community engagement and feedback.
- Providing advice to the project teams to assist them with improving and enhancing communication with residents.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with all stakeholders, including occasional travel to the Central Coast, Newcastle, or the Hunter Valley regions to attend meetings or events.
**What you'll need to succeed***
- Previous experience in a similar engagement role and working with projects developing marketing/communication plans
- Experience in a government role is desired
- Enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, working on multiple projects at once
- Team player with the ability to reach out to stakeholders and provide advice
- Strong communication and customer service skills with experience in managing multiple stakeholders
- Tech savvy with the ability to pick up new systems quickly
- Strong time management skills
- Qualifications in marketing, media and communications, or similar/relevant experience
- Vaccinated against Covid-19
- Police/background Check (we can initiate one for you)
