**Role context**

The Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA) is part of the Department of Education. Established in 2016, it oversees Victoria's largest school building program since the state introduced free public education in the 1870s.

The VSBA delivers on three key priorities:

- To build and expand the schools and early childhood services Victoria needs for its rapidly growing population
- To reform how we maintain and modernise school buildings and grounds
- To engage local communities, giving them more say and keeping them better informed about new schools and major upgrades.

The VSBA upgrades and expands existing schools and plans, designs and builds new schools to meet enrolment demand. We also support schools to maintain their buildings and grounds by offering expert advice and coordinating maintenance programs and grants.

With Victoria recently introducing two years of funded kindergarten, the VSBA is also working with the early childhood sector on a massive kindergarten construction program.

The VSBA is made up of property and building experts, project managers, architects, former principals and
business managers and specialists in relocatable buildings, facilities management, communications, finance, data analytics and policy.

We acknowledge Aboriginal people and communities as the Traditional Custodians of Country on which we live and work, right across the state. We respect their Elders, past and present, and value the continuous and rich culture and history of First Peoples.
