At ISPT, we might be in the business of property, but it’s our commitment to growth for people, places and communities that really drives us.
We generate returns for our Investors, some of Australia’s largest industry superannuation funds, and ultimately the 50%+ of working Australians who have their retirement savings invested in property through us.
Our team and our culture are some of our greatest strengths and we have an exciting new opportunity for a Data Analyst to join our team in Melbourne.
About the opportunity
This role will be responsible for contributing to data analytics which supports ISPT's bespoke Market Intelligence Data & Analytics System (MIDAS). MIDAS is built and maintained by Strategic Research and is the team's platform for delivering economic and market insights to support data-driven investment decisions. The Data Analyst will learn foundational skills in data analytics, including data principles, core tools (Excel, SQL, Python), and data visualisation (Tableau), and over time will work towards proficiency in cloud data engineering in Microsoft Azure. As such, this is a great opportunity to build the skills and experience needed to become a data engineer, working closely with and being coached by our Manager, Investment Analytics and Data Engineer
**Key responsibilities include but are not limited to**:
Updating and continuously improving the MIDAS data dictionaries which drive our analytics automation
Exploring relationships between datasets and variables through empirical analysis
Ingesting, cleaning and transforming data sources (mainly from subscriptions) through Azure to land in SQL, and mapping new data sources to data dictionaries
Building and/or validating insightful Tableau dashboards and assisting interpretation for insights and business recommendations.
Assisting in maintaining existing data sources, reviewing new sources, and contributing to proofs-of-concept (e.g. econometric and data science models exploring relationships between variables).
About you
You bring energy, passion for insights & data, and a positive attitude towards learning and developing your skills. Experience working with data and databases, performing exploratory analysis (including statistical analysis), and programming is essential. Skills with Excel, SQL, Python and cloud environments is an advantage.
