**About the Role**:
As a Biosecurity Officer, you will be involved in both invasive pest animal and animal biosecurity functional areas within the Hunter region. You will be part of a team of Biosecurity Officers based at various locations across the region delivering on the ground services. Some of the daily duties of a Biosecurity Officer include:
- Programme coordination as detailed in the Hunter Regional Pest Animal Plan
- Saleyard attendance
- Assisting District Veterinarian with animal health programmes
- Emergency Management training and operations
**What you need to do the role**
- Certificate IV in Government Investigations, or ability to successfully complete same
- Ability to assist with team projects such as aerial baiting, pest animal control as well as providing support to the district vet team as required.
- Ability to contribute at team meetings and provide updates to management on current issues, projects and intended outcomes, as well as attend training as required.
- Demonstrated experience in following procedures and processes (especially as you’ll be handling dangerous substances and pesticides).
- Capacity to hold a NSW firearms license or equivalent, and a Statement of Attainment (to Use Firearms to humanely destroy animals AQF AHCVPT203A, AHCPMG304) and be appointed as an Authorised Officer under the Biosecurity Act
- Have a Current NSW Class C Driver and be willing to undertake regular travel within the region
