Our client is a global leader in the packaging, paper, glass, and resource recovery industries, providing high-quality, innovative and sustainable packaging products and solutions. They offer a full lifecycle of packaging capability and have been leading packaging innovation in Australia for more than a decade.
**The opportunity**:
Reporting to and supporting site the Operations Manager and working alongside plant leaders, this key role is accountable for ensuring that stringent safety standards are maintained across the site. Maintaining an effective risk management system, coordinating training requirements, leading the emergency response team, and assisting with compliance audits.
As part of this role, you will manage injured workers and the return-to-work processes and be skilled it risk management and prevention. With an aging workforce onsite, my client is looking for someone to reinvigorate and implement new systems, processes, and documentation. to improve the overall business.
**The key responsibilities**:
- Promote and drive the desired safety culture, values and expected behaviour.
- Develop business relationships to engage multiple stakeholders within the pulp & paper plant.
- Mentor and coach site leadership to manage and implement safety programs.
- Coordinate WH&S training for relevant staff in areas such as incident investigations, risk assessments and internal audits.
- Ensure Injuries and incidents are investigated, and corrective actions implemented.
- Support Injured workers and handle all return to work responsibilities.
- Ensure safety targets are being met.
- Administration of WH&S data management systems.
- Represent the organisation during major safety audits.
**Requirements**:
- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety or related
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and effectively manage conflict
- Proactive, continuous improvement mindset focussed on efficiencies and a solutions-oriented approach
- Excellent time management, with the ability to prioritise and deliver in a fast-paced environment
- Previous Experience with Return-to-work co-ordination and injury management
**You will be required to meet our client's employment criteria which will include a criminal history**
**check and pre-employment medical (including drug & alcohol testing).**
