**About the Role**

This role is responsible for optimising freight related outcomes across Capral's operations. It will directly manage significant freight contracting arrangements (tenders) and provide support and insight to smaller locally managed freight arrangements.

**Primary Responsibilities**:

- Manage key freight contracts and provide support.
- Go to market exercises and changeover of freight providers.
- Freight process which includes maintaining the National Freight Schedule and ensuring the schedule is accurately reflected within SAP.
- Monitor route utilisation and make recommendations on frequency and vehicle changes.
- Continual goods improvement whilst reducing freight costs.
- Work with stakeholders to achieve the best in freight service and design for all freight operations.
- Develop and review procedures and work instructions to ensure practices are safe and meet all legislative, industry, quality, and best practice requirements.
- Develop technical improvements to enhance freight operations.
- Review transport zone post code tables and investigate problems.
- Administer the Freight Incident process including a national register, reporting procedures and the claim process.as appropriate.
- Prepare, submit, and follow through on claims against freight carriers.

**Essential**:
You will be a self-motivated person who enjoys working in a high-performance culture. To be considered applicants **MUST** have:

- A Degree in Logistics, Business or Supply Chain.
- 5+ years’ experience in operational freight services ideally with metals.
- Significant experience in warehouse and logistics.
- Exceptional influencing skills and ability to deliver outcomes.
- Strong safety leadership for warehouse and freight operations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and knowledge of data analysis tools.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to successfully challenge existing practice and develop innovative solutions.
- Ability to travel both interstate and internationally (if required).

**Desirable**:

- Previous experience and knowledge of Capral’s manufacturing, warehouse and logistic operations
