**Your new role**:
The Director of Research Partnerships is responsible for setting the strategy and managing the Research Partnerships team to fulfill Curtin University's research strategy.
This position will nurture and ingrain a culture guided by values, ensuring the provision of support to the University that is characterized by excellence, efficiency, and a strong focus on meeting end-user needs. Collaboration forms a cornerstone of this role, as the Director works in tandem with other portfolio managers within the Office, as well as various internal and external stakeholders to:
- Progress momentum in the university toward increased demand driven research and expansion of partnerships and other relationships.
- Work collaboratively with the other portfolio managers within the Office as well as with other internal and external stakeholders to establish, maintain and continuously improve a competitive advantage for Curtin through leadership in research.
- Establish a range of new initiatives including partnerships achieving significant income growth, with a focus on growing industry linked Government grant success.
- Build research engagement by direct involvement and implementation of a training framework to grow Curtin’s researcher’s capabilities.
- Foster and embed a values-led culture that delivers high quality, efficient and end-user-focused support to the University.
- Establish, monitor, and progress Curtin’s project pipeline and ensure transparency and the effective use of Research Services and Systems.
- Undertake Board and committee membership roles (both internal and external) as agreed with the DVCR and represent the DVCR as appropriate.
**Essential Criteria**:
- Completion of a postgraduate qualification, experience in a research environment and extensive management and business development experience.
- Demonstrated values-led leadership experience, including demonstrated capacity to initiate, lead and manage change in response to a challenging and evolving research environment in accordance with the vision of the University.
- Demonstrated ability to guide, coach and manage staff in a complex and dynamic environment, as well as lead diverse teams to achieve complex inter-related goals.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts, and capacity to negotiate and influence to achieve desired outcomes.
- Demonstrated capacity to build productive partnerships within a complex and diverse organisation.
- A demonstrated understanding of Occupational Safety and Health, Information Technology / Information Security and Ethics, Equity and Social Justice legislation and policies.
**Desirable Criteria**:
- A strong understanding of higher education research.
- Experience in Boards and Committees representation.
