**Job Description**:
**The Role**

AECOM’s Building Engineering group is looking for a highly driven professional to join our Team, based in Perth. As an experienced member of our team, you will provide technical, structural engineering design input to contribute to a range of projects across Transit, Defence, Commercial, Leisure and Residential projects.

Working with a team of experts, this role will give you the opportunity to further develop your engineering management and design skills. You will work with a number of internal and external clients and will be involved in key stakeholder engagement processes, contributing to the growth of our business.

As a Principal Engineer and Design Manager, you will be involved in all elements of the project lifecycle - from preparing proposals and presenting to clients, through to managing resources and budgets to ensure timely project delivery. Using your well-developed written and verbal communication skills, you will build strong relationships with clients resulting in winning work and gaining repeat business. Working in a multi-disciplinary environment, you will collaborate with teams across business lines and technical disciplines and mentor and coach junior engineers. Some of your responsibilities will include:

- Effectively control commercial, managerial and technical aspects of the project or the part of the project you are responsible for, with a focus on multi-disciplinary design coordination
- Assist the Directors with their team management responsibilities
- Ensure effective communication of business issues to all staff reporting to you
- Understand and implement the Company’s strategy relating to customers (repeat business)
- Awareness of marketing opportunities and the capability of the business as a whole

**About You**
- Minimum 12 years’ experience in related engineering background
- High degree of technical competence in the field, in particular Multi-disciplinary design management of complex building projects
- Knowledge, competency and local experience in building structural design and preparation of design schemes, models and calculations.
- Supervision of junior staff and draftsmen/REVIT operators.
- Demonstrated skills in managing projects (or components of) and budgets to meet time and resource requirements.
- CPEng/REPQ preferred.
- Thorough working knowledge of Etabs, Strand, RAPT and Spacegass will be viewed favourably.

**Qualifications**:

- Tertiary qualification in engineering (preferably structural).
