We support adults and families, including accompanying children with accommodation, case management, outreach support, financial assistance, connection and referral to other specialist services.

About the role

We are seeking a values-driven Woman's Support Worker who will engage with vulnerable women in our Magpie Nest Housing Program or who are accessing our broader service who may be experiencing domestic and family violence, homelessness, abuse, trauma. Provide case management support to women in our Magpie Nest Housing Program. Develop strategic partnerships that work to improve response strategies in advocating for the needs of women.

To work effectively to ensure an integrated response to service provision that is demonstrated by clear and consistent referral pathways, protocols and joint initiatives. Responsible for the development, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of a range of accessible and culturally appropriate services for women and children. Empower women and women with children to assist themselves whenever this is possible and to provide education through consultation with workers and workshops with vulnerable women.

You will successfully
- Work within a trauma informed framework to ensure best practice and reduce the likelihood of retraumatisation.
- All women who access services are provided with non-judgemental, holistic support that demonstrates the mission and values of The Salvation Army
- Actively promote and seek opportunities for improved cooperation, coordination and collaboration across relevant networks, developing and maintaining appropriate community networks and resources relevant to the effective delivery of service.
- All referrals are followed up and access to support services is maximised for clients.
- Women in crisis are provided with immediate crisis support, risk assessment and access to case management support that assists them to plan for their own safety and wellbeing, that are culturally, gender and age appropriate.
- Women are empowered to develop independent living skills.
- Links are developed with other networks and community services in order to assist clients to access relevant resources and expand their network of community support.
- Ensure the maintenance of client records are in line with privacy legislation, including case notes Prepare for and participate in program meetings, case conferencing, reflective practice, peer support and information sharing.

This is a full-time, fixed term( 2 year) position located in Melbourne, VIC. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the SACS VIC Lvl 4 - Welfare Wkr CII award.

You will have
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, or Behavioural Science or other appropriate qualifications or related field with relevant experience or demonstrated equivalent experience, knowledge and skills.
- A minimum of 3 years experience in the social services sector.
- Understanding of domestic and family violence, its complexities and consequences, in a broad range of cultural and social context.
- A National Police Record Check is required.
- A Victorian Employee Working With Children Check is required.
