We’re looking for a Law Graduate ready to step into a practical legal role, gain broad exposure across multiple areas of law, and be mentored closely by a senior legal practitioner.
**About the Role**
Working directly with the Legal Practice Director on matters across commercial, property, wills and estates and veteran’s affairs. Under the supervision and support of the Legal Practice Director you will gain experience within the legal practice, assisting in representing clients and providing legal advice. The position is full-time and performed under supervision in compliance with legal practice rules for unadmitted graduates. This role offers broad exposure to different cases and close mentorship as you transition from academic studies to practicing law.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Legal research
- Client interaction - liaise with clients and stakeholders (beneficiaries, business owners, government agencies etc)
- Preparing documents under the supervision of the Legal Practice Director with a high level of attention to detail
- File management including ensuring record keeping is accurate and up to date, tracking key dates and deadlines and assist in keeping the legal team informed.
- Preparing briefs, evidence bundles and other materials for matters and or court proceedings
- Ensure compliance with legal procedures and firm policies.
- Upholding firm values and contributing to the culture
**What You’ll Need**
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor degree (completed). Completion of or current enrolment in an accredited Practical Legal Training (PLT) program (Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice) is required to achieve admission. The firm is open to graduates who are in the process of completing PLT and nearing eligibility for admission
- Intention to seek admission to the Supreme Court of Western Australia as a legal practitioner upon meeting the necessary requirements
- Exceptional client service skills
- Effectively manage workload and competing deadlines
- High level written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Familiarity with legal research tools and practice management systems is highly regarded.
