After Hours Support Worker

This position is situated within the MacKillop National After Hours Services Unit which is responsible for providing high quality residential care that supports the emotional, social and behavioural care needs of vulnerable young people. The After Hours Support Worker is a member of the MacKillop National After Hours Services Unit and reports to the After Hours Support Worker Coordinator.

**_ We are currently offering Full Time opportunity based in Blacktown NSW. Shifts commence at 9/10pm. Shifts finish at 7am. 8 shifts per fortnight working every 2nd weekend. _**

**_The After Hours Support Worker will: _**

Support staff in providing ‘best practise’ care that meets the day-to-day needs of young people whilst delivering high quality outcomes for all young people and their families. Participate in team meetings with the National After Hours Support Worker Team and other forums as required.

- Contribute to the development of a safe and nurturing environment for young people;
- Assist young people to develop independent living skills;
- Protect and respect the rights of young people;
- Safeguard the wellbeing of young people and report any concerns immediately;
- Support young people to remain connected to the significant people and places in their lives;
- Support young people to access information and experiences which assist them to develop a positive sense of identity;
- Support young people to participate in decision making processes;
- Provide services that are sensitive to the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people and their families.

**_ What You Bring:_**

You’re passionate about supporting youth and ready to make an impact. Whether you have previous experience in youth services or are eager to start your career in this field, we want to hear from you. You bring:

- Must have A Diploma or higher in Community Services, Youth Work, Social work, Mental Health or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in youth services or residential care.
- A deep understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and a commitment to cultural competency.
- A trauma-informed approach to working with young people facing significant challenges.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage, motivate, and support youth effectively.

**_ Must Have or Wiling to Obtain:_**
- Valid and Current Driver's Licence
- Valid and Current Workers with Children's Check
- Valid and Current NDIS Workers Screeners Check
- Satisfactory Criminal History Check
- Satisfactory Reference checks from current and previous employer
