**About the role**

The Behaviour team provide training and support for staff and volunteers across the state, focusing on improved animal outcomes through behaviour assessment and modification, as well as providing education and advice to the wider community through RSPCA School for Pets.
- Promoting low-stress animal handling practices to reduce fear, anxiety and stress wherever possible.
- Supporting staff, volunteers and members of the public by providing theoretical and practical learning opportunities.
- Providing support for Animal Attendants working in the behaviour assessment and rehabilitation field.
- Providing support and advice to members of the public post-adoption or pre-surrender.
- Assisting with the review of adoption expressions of interest, consultations and meet and greets.
- Assisting with the production of animal behaviour and training resources for staff, volunteers, foster carers and the community.
- Assisting with on boarding, coordinating and training the behaviour and training volunteers.
- Implementing and carrying out behaviour management and modification plans.
- Teach a prepared training class curriculum to both internal and external clients.
- Conduct private training sessions either in-person or online.

**Who are we looking for?**
- Extensive experience in reward-based training and a passion for animal behaviour.
- Passion and commitment to learning and self-development (a formal Qualification in Animal Training/ Behaviour would be highly regarded).
- Excellent organisational and time management skills and the ability to cope under pressure.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including good conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent animal handling skills (felines and canines) and a high attention to detail.
- Ability to work as part of a team and support your colleagues, as well as working independently to solve problems.

We have a full-time 18-month parental leave contract, working 38 hours per week and a part time permanent position, working 24 hours per week available. Both positions are based at the Wacol Animal Care Campus. Remuneration is as per the RSPCA Qld Enterprise Agreement for Shelter Staff based on applicants experience and qualifications.
