**_ Your part in it_**

Reporting to the Lead Energy Trader, you will be responsible for optimizing and securing maximum gross margin through participation in physical spot trading markets on the East and West Coasts. You will be in a team participating in a 7-day, 24-hour roster, implementing trading strategies in real time short-term power and gas markets.

This full-time, permanent role is based in our Sydney office and provides you with the opportunity to work in one of today’s most exciting industries. You must be driven, highly motivated and remains level-headed in an environment which is constantly changing.

- Identify, assess, and manage commodity market risk exposures, always interacting with senior traders.
- Maintain awareness of political and regulatory developments in relation to gas and power.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of trading strategies to achieve over budget targets.
- Develop and maintain productive internal and external relationships, including Alinta Energy’s broader Merchant Energy business and external market operators.
- Ensure trading obligations are identified, assessed, and managed whilst collaborating with senior traders and the broader team.

**_ What you’ll bring to it _**
- Tertiary qualification in business, engineering, commerce, mathematics, or relevant numerical based discipline.
- Exposure to energy markets including the Australian physical electricity and gas markets.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Self-starter attitude, attention to detail and commercial acumen.
- Exposure in trading systems and processes highly desirable.
