The Role
We are currently seeking a values-driven and proactive chaplain that is a trained specialist and has expertise in recognising and focusing on the spiritual and pastoral needs of others. As a spiritual practitioner they work in partnership with other professional staff to provide holistic support to both clients and staff. The chaplain’s role may include provision of religious services including chapel services, funerals and dedications/naming services. It also includes the facilitation of faith discussion groups and looks to support people from other faith groups as appropriate.
The role provides Chaplaincy support on the Gold Coast.
You Will Successfully
- Provides spiritual and pastoral care, encouraging people to explore their spirituality and move.
- Is attentive to the spiritual needs of clients and staff, respectful of differing spiritual/theological beliefs
- forward in their personal faith journey. This includes one-on-one pastoral or spiritual conversations and groupwork.
- SAMIS reports completed as required.
- People’s needs and risks are responded to as part of service delivery.
- Participates in staff and client case meetings where applicable.
- Chaplains assist staff and management in understanding The Salvation Army theology, mission, and culture, ensuring that a sacred space is provided for the holistic, spiritual, and religious needs of those the chaplain cares for.
- Facilitate faith-based activities as outlined in the Spirituality Framework (eg. spiritual awareness and the Positive Lifestyle Program).
- As a professional spiritual practitioner and member of senior staff team, the chaplain attends and contributes to all management meetings and actively engages in recruitment and induction processes of staff.
This is a part time position, located in Southport QLD and is an Award Free position.
You will Have
- Meets the yearly credentialling requirements of the Territorial Chaplaincy Support Unit (TCSU) to be registered as a Salvation Army Chaplain
- Mandatory participation in regular professional pastoral supervision
- Mandatory participation in Area Leadership Teams if invited by Area Officer
- Mandatory participation in monthly spiritual retreat day
- National police record check
- Working With Children Check
- Valid and current driver’s licence (if required for tool of trade car or pool car access)
- Attends Christian place of worship
- Mandatory line management meetings
- Participation in Peer Support
- TSA work uniform to be worn in chaplain’s ministry setting
- Compulsory Code of Conduct, WHS and Bullying and Harassment training modules are completed and up to date.
- Willingness to meet vaccination requirements of the role
