**Salary**:$104,949 - 120,692 per annum +11.5% superannuation

Randwick City Council is an innovative and progressive Council committed to serving our vibrant community on the eastern beaches of Sydney. We are currently seeking a dynamic First Nations Curator to join the La Perouse Museum at an exciting time in its development.

**Purpose**:
The Curator First Nations (Identified) is a key role in the La Perouse Museum team, providing Indigenous cultural integrity and knowledge to help raise awareness of Aboriginal culture throughout Museum operations and programming. Working closely with the Head La Perouse Museum, Museum Officer and external stakeholders including the La Perouse Aboriginal community, the position provides cultural knowledge and best practice First Nations methodologies to inform and deliver core museum services including exhibition development, collections care, research, public programs, education programs, visitor experience and guided tours.

**About the role**:

- The role oversees the care and representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander objects, artefacts, and artworks for the purposes of exhibition and conservation - making improvements within the Museum to better reflect the Aboriginal cultural significance of La Perouse and champions the implementation of First Nations cultural protocols.
- The Curator First Nations develops engaging programs that focus on Aboriginal culture, across the Museum and Headland to amplify the cultural significance of La Perouse and raise awareness of Aboriginal culture and history.
- The Curator First Nations will assist the Museum to deliver programs including exhibition content, research, collections and programming.

**About you**:

- Applicants must be of Aboriginal descent through parentage, identify as being Aboriginal and accepted in the community as such. Randwick City Council considers that being Aboriginal or a Torres Strait Islander is a genuine occupational requirement for this position under the provisions of section 126 of the Antidiscrimination Act 1977 (NSW)
- We trust you will bring strong cultural knowledge and demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
- You will also have the experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience pertaining to the role.
