We are currently seeking an Application Security Specialist to lead and uplift one of Australia's biggest brands' API security initiatives.

The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and implement robust API security measures, best practices, and tools.

- Shape API security practices, fortify the organization's technology infrastructure and contribute to its cyber development lifecycle.

**You will**:

- Lead the API security project under the wide ISAP program, focusing on strengthening API security in response to recent breaches.
- Collaborate with project sponsor and stakeholders to define project scope, goals, and deliverables.
- Work within a multi-disciplinary project team, consisting of technical experts and business stakeholders, to drive API security enhancements.
- Define and implement API security controls, guardrails, and best practices.
- Evaluate and select a suitable pure-play API security tool to implement and integrate with existing systems.
- Provide technical advisory and consulting services to internal teams regarding API security, development best practices, and architecture.
- Engage with third-party consultants to review and advise on API controls and security measures.
- Manage technical sessions with vendors, including proof-of-concept evaluations and capability assessments.
- Monitor and track the progress of API security initiatives, ensuring a well-defined “definition of done.”
- Engage in stakeholder management and foster effective communication between technical teams and business units.

**To be successful, you will have most of the following skills & experience**:

- Strong technical background, including expertise in DevOps practices, engineering, and AWS services.
- Ability to evaluate, select, and integrate third-party security tools and solutions.
- Exceptional communication skills to bridge the gap between technical and business discussions.
- Familiarity with various API security tools, such as Salt, NoName, Sequence, and others.
- Previous experience working in a federated organizational model is advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing security issues.
- Previous experience in a technical advisory or consulting role is a plus.
- AWS certifications and relevant security certifications are desirable.
