**The Position**
- Position Title: Chief Medical Officer
- Salary per hour (exc. super): Negotiable
- Hours per fortnight: 76
- Employment Status: Ongoing
- Other requirements: COVID-19 Vaccination

**Role Description**
- The Chief Medical Officer is responsible for the leadership and professional governance of all matters relating to the medical workforce at Bendigo Health, including the junior medical staff workforce. In addition, the Chief Medical Officer will hold an operational portfolio for the areas stated above. The combined role is an integral part of the Executive Leadership Team at Bendigo Health.

**The Team**
- The Clinical Governance Division has a focus on promoting and supporting patient safety and quality of service. It recognises the importance of leadership, culture, patient safety, clinical performance, professionalism and patient care. The Clinical Governance team works collaboratively with other staff to provide high quality clinical governance support and advice, both internally and when supporting our Regional Partner Health Services.

**Selection Criteria**
- Essential : Registration as a medical practitioner in Victoria.
- Desirable : Postgraduate qualifications in health administration and/or management or equivalent.
- Desirable : Hold fellowship of, or have intent to progress towards a fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators (FRACMA)
- Essential : Extensive executive level management experience in a complex public referral or teaching hospital.
- Essential : Extensive experience in effectively managing junior and senior medical staff and students, including knowledge of accreditation requirements and liaison with universities.
- Essential : Demonstrated financial, business and strategic planning skills
- Essential : Extensive knowledge of current trends affecting public sector health services in Victoria and/or Australia.
- Essential : Demonstrated experience in clinical governance, including the effective management of clinical risk and patient safety strategies with strong understanding of Improvement Science applied to health service delivery.
- Essential : Demonstrated ability to effectively manage a major change program as well as operate in an environment of significant organisational and industry change.
- Essential : Communication and negotiation competencies, interpersonal, verbal and written, at the executive level, and an ability to interact with clinical staff at all levels.
